Knitting & Crochet
If you or your child is interested in learning to knit or crochet, here is a list of the tools you will need to get started!
Knitting

You’ll need needles and yarn to start. I have switched entirely to using circular needles. They are lighter to hold, helping with hand and arm fatigue. My favorite brand is Addi Turbo. The yarns slides effortlessly across the metal. For beginners, you can purchase bamboo needles which will help to keep the yarn from slipping. Below you’ll see that I’ve posted a guide to help you determine what size needle to get to accompany the yarn you choose for your project.
Crochet

Like knitting you will need a crochet hook and yarn that is meant for that particular hook. Basically the thicker the yarn, the fatter the hook. See the chart below to get a sense of what I’m talking about. My favorite brands for hooks are Clover and Tulip (recommend Tulip ETIMO Rose
Crochet Hook with Cushion Grip). They should have a soft and comfortable grip. Just like knitting, the hooks should allow the yarn to glide off easily.

Here is a chart to help you understand what needles and yarn to get. When reading a pattern, it will tell you both the yarn and needle requirements.
