Sewing Notions

• Seam ripper

• seam gauge

• good sewing scissors (Gingher, Singer, Fiskars)

• pins (longer are better)

• iron and ironing board

• thread

• hand sewing needles

• spare machine needles such as Schmetz and Organ (newer sewers have a tendency to break the machine needles). 

• Small scissors

• higher end seam ripper that is more ergonomic (the ones that come with machines are not very good

In addition to general sewing notions, you’ll need: 

• rotary cutter, recommend Olfa

• acrylic ruler(s). I like Creative Grids

• self healing cutting mat such as these from Olfa.
